December 5 is confirmed, registration still ahead
Corsair Athletics is running its 2nd annual Corsair Games on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 1400 NW 49th St in Ballard.
The gym announced the date on Instagram on October 18: "MARK YOUR CALENDAR. The 2nd annual Corsair Games are coming. Sat, 12/5, prepare to throw down like a true pirate."
Registration had not opened as of that post. No format, workout list, or entry fee has been published. The gym's only word on it: "Stay tuned for registration!"
All skill levels, no asterisk
The gym set one entry bar: "All are welcome, all skill levels will be challenged."
That is not just event language. The homepage tagline reads "All experience levels, all under one roof in Ballard," and the About page goes further: "Modifying or scaling is important, but we feel that only meets people halfway."
Ludwig Schneiveis, Jeremy, and Randy opened Corsair after meeting at another CrossFit gym; the site went up in 2023. The founding pitch, still on the About page: "we understood that people look for different exercise programs at different stages of life and stages of fitness."
The pirate gym in Ballard
A corsair is "a pirate for hire, or a privateer" and "also means a fast ship."
The founders chose Ballard for the maritime fit: "We chose Ballard as the home for Corsair Athletics because of its unstoppable community energy. So many people call Ballard home from all walks of life that it made the perfect place to build a new fitness family."
Corsair runs CrossFit under affiliate number 34770, with Ludwig Schneiveis listed as owner on the CrossFit.com gym directory. The schedule also covers HYROX, which the gym describes as an official Training Club, plus strength and conditioning, open gym, and personal training.
Competitors who trained here in 2026
Three athletes from the gym reached the 2026 CrossFit Quarterfinals.
Ludwig Schneiveis qualified in both the Men and Men (35-39) divisions, Jeremy Russell in Men. Megan Brooks was the only one to earn an invitation at that stage, in the Women's division.
Gu L. wrote on Yelp in May 2025: "Amazing coaches and community. Everyone at the gym is welcoming and encouraging. 12/10 would recommend!" Member Kaitlyn Kelly on Ludwig: "Coach Ludwig is an excellent coach and is extremely knowledge and helpful when coaching you through proper techniques. The people I attended class with were super friendly and welcoming."
What to watch for
The gym teased a step up from last year: "If you thought last year was unhinged, prepare yourself for next-level swashbuckling."
No format or heat details have come out yet. Watch @corsair_athletics for registration when it opens.
