Finding Her Outlet

Emilia Perez found her footing in fitness long before it became her profession.

Training became an outlet for her in high school, she says, and that personal relationship with movement shaped everything that followed. Then friends and family began asking how to work out from home, and she started coaching them. Helping the people closest to her quickly grew into a passion and then a full-time career. She has now been training clients for 7 years.

Coaching the Person, Not Just the Goal

Clients often come to her because they want to feel stronger but do not know where to start.

Her background in behavioral psychology shapes how she coaches, she says. She pays attention to the person behind the goals, and she is big on teaching the why behind what they do, building trust and helping people feel capable.

Strength and pre and postnatal training are her specialties, backed by her NASM personal training certification and her Pronatal Fit credential. Emilia says the hardest part is helping clients move from a quick fix toward long term health, because it takes time to unlearn beliefs they may have grown up with. It is also, she says, one of the most rewarding parts of the job when clients shift that perspective and build a healthier relationship.

A Result Worth Carrying

One of the most meaningful experiences of Emilia's career began with a woman already in recovery from an eating disorder.

Before training full time, Emilia worked as a behavioral specialist at Eating Recovery Center, which gave her a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological side of food, exercise and body image. The woman hoped to rebuild a healthy relationship with movement and prepare her body to conceive.

Her role, Emilia explains, was not to treat the eating disorder or address hormonal or fertility concerns. It was to offer a safe, supportive approach to exercise that respected the client's history and goals. Together they treated movement as a way to feel strong, not small, and capable rather than driven by obligation and appearance. Today the client is a mom to an almost 2 year old girl, and Emilia says it makes her so happy to have been part of getting there.

A Private Studio With a Warm Welcome

She opened Enrgy Collective in Northgate in 2024 with a vision of a private, elevated space where fitness feels personal, welcoming and empowering.

Fitness has been one of the most grounding parts of her life, she says, and it has given her purpose beyond physical results. The studio pairs a fully private setting and top of the line equipment with result driven coaching that starts with understanding the person.

A first visit begins with a consult. From there, she and the team take time to understand how a body moves, assess strength and mobility, and introduce exercises tailored to experience and goals, with close attention to form and to the why. The music is whatever makes you feel your best, and the session ends with a cool down and a cold eucalyptus towel.

A Week Full of Movement

She trains about 35 sessions per week at Enrgy Collective, then spends 5 to 7 hours on admin and other tasks.

Emilia says she used to work day in and day out when she first opened, but an amazing employee and assistant now helps. Away from the studio, she walks outdoors with her two dogs, Zeus the Rottweiler and Rocky the Doberman, and takes heated pilates.

She runs too, though she is not currently signed up for any races, and in spring and summer she has a run club called Enrgy in Motion that meets at Greenlake Park. As a Lululemon ambassador, she also gets to lead or join some fun events. Coffee, matcha, cooking and singing fill in the rest.

What Comes Next

What comes next for her is, hopefully, a second Enrgy Collective location farther north.

She has lots of dreams and ideas, she says, and a husband and family who support them. Family comes first when she is away from the studio. She is bilingual in English and Farsi and is working to master Spanish, since her husband is Colombian. NASM certified personal trainer. Pronatal Fit credentialed. Lululemon ambassador and founder of Enrgy Collective.
