RockBox Fitness opens in South Lake Union
A boxing and kickboxing studio opened in South Lake Union on October 31, 2026, after city fire inspections pushed back the launch.
RockBox Fitness South Lake Union is the brand's second Greater Seattle location, at 1250 Harrison St, joining a Bellevue studio that has been running since at least 2023.
The studio confirmed the opening on Instagram: "We are officially open" and "Classes are now in session." The first class ran at 9:00 AM on October 31.
A member who became the owner
Pritha C. was a RockBox member before she became the owner.
"I've been a member of RockBox Fitness for over 2 years now and began considering franchising within 3 months of being a member," she said in a January 2026 press release. She is driven by having a positive impact and building community, she added, and owning a RockBox studio lets her do both.
What a class looks like
Each class runs 50 minutes across 8 to 12 stations, alternating punch-and-kick rounds with strength work.
The format is built for a wide range of fitness levels, from first-timers to regulars. A Bellevue member, writing in 2023 about the same RockBox format, was plain about it: "I've never boxed in my life and was sure I wouldn't come back after the month was over. It's September the same year and I come 3-4 days a week still."
First-timers at SLU should arrive 30 minutes early for a complimentary orientation on basic punches and kicks. Gloves are available to rent or buy at the front desk, or members can bring their own.
The brand behind the studio
RockBox was founded in 2017 by Roger Martin and began franchising in 2018.
As of October 30, 2026, the brand had 22 open studios across 14 states, with 25 franchise agreements awarded in total. That day, Martin handed the CEO title to Dan Managan. Brandon Pflieger joined as president and COO. The SLU studio opened the following morning.
Scale was the plan from day one. Marketing consultants and a web designer were among the first hires, in place before the flagship studio opened. In the October 30 press release, Martin said the brand was "different in the way people train, different in the community we create and different in the opportunity we provide our franchise partners."
How to sign up
Classes book through the RockBox Fitness Members app.
Three membership tiers are available: Unlimited Hits, Standing 8, and Bob and Weave. Regular members should arrive 5 to 10 minutes before class for check-in. 1250 Harrison St Ste 1250, Seattle, 98109.
